ABOUT
THE PROJECT

MISSION & HISTORY.

The Future of the Past is following on from a successful pilot which took place between 2020 and 2022. It is thanks to The National Heritage Lottery Fund that this project is able to take place with supporting funding from the South and East Lindsey Partnership, West Lindsey District Council and South Kesteven District Council.

The Future of the Past project is giving young people (11-25) the opportunity to gain skills, get creative and gain access to artists and historic collections all while discovering new and exciting aspects of Lincolnshire's history. We hope that the young creatives who get involved will feel at home in Lincolnshire's heritage and its venues and will seek to become volunteers of the future; securing the Future of the Past!!

The project is working alongside 6 heritage venues across Lincolnshire and one community group. The big idea is that young people will work with these venues to produce new and creative interpretations of the collections held there. This could be anything from, music, visual arts, theatre, improved web content, blogs or anything which takes the venue collections and makes something creative out of them!

Through this project, we are supporting venues to become more sustainable, diverse and creative. Heritage volunteers will gain new skills, develop new networks and learn how to reach new audiences.
