Future of the Past is now in its second phase having successfully completed a pilot in 2020-2021.

The project works with young people, heritage sites and community groups to develop bespoke programmes producing creative interpretations, cultural activities and events based upon the heritage collections. The project is increasing engagement with local heritage, promoting community ownership and developing a greater appreciation of the significant role which heritage plays in all of our lives.

Sleaford Museum
Gainsborough Heritage Centre
Sleaford Museum have returned to the project having been a significant part of the pilot project. Sleaford’s Museum of Local History is housed in a beautifully designed building, and embarks on a journey through time. Its vibrant and ever-changing exhibitions showcase the captivating stories and artefacts that make Sleaford unique. Don’t forget to visit our gift shop, where you can find a delightful selection of local history books, booklets, postcards, pens, key-rings, and more!
Come and step into the past with Gainsborough Heritage Centre, immerse yourself in the town's industrial past, stroll through a 20th century street and vintage post office. Be sure to visit our charming shop, relax in the Exchange Tea Room and take in the surroundings with some delicious tea and cake!

Joseph Banks Centre
Britain’s oldest surviving provincial learned society and second oldest museum. Today, the society aims to connect with the world through interactive engagement with the astounding collections on-site, virtually and through outreach. From mammoth tusks to weapons to books of love poetry, the collections here have it all!
Fydell House is one of Boston's gems. Nestled in the heart of the town, this former Merchant's House is now open to the public, with free tours, a cafe and events held throughout the year. Discover the grandeur and history of Fydell House, a true testament to Boston’s rich past.
The Joseph Banks Society, in the centre of Horncastle is a community- run organisation which celebrates the history of Joseph Banks, his voyage and his botanical interests. The society contains a herbarium which builds upon his expertise and contains specimens from across Lincolnshire. This collection is vital to understanding and tracking environmental changes across the region.
